Statement of Goals as Superintendent

The primary goal of
any school leader whether in the
classroom or at the district office
must inevitably be focused on the
needs of the students which they are
responsible.
Leaders
with solid beliefs, proven values,
steadfast courage, clear vision and
strategic plans are essential in
transforming ineffective and
low-achieving school districts into
high-performing examples of success.
Superintendents are leaders which
convey support for the goals for
which they are accountable.
It
is the primary position of authority
and preeminence in a school
district, but it is no stronger than
the support it generates from the
people.
Consequently, stakeholders must be
involved and supportive in the
common goal of bettering the
educational environment.
The
personal goals of each prospective
school leader are varied and must
incorporate the common thread of
support to those in which are
working toward the common good.
Instructional decisions, while
operating within the state
guidelines, are best left to each
individual school, principal and
teacher. I believe decisions about
instruction should be made by those
who are closest to students.
Professionally my intent is to grow in the knowledge of educational leadership and use wisdom in the application of that knowledge. I have a desire to head our system as the Superintendent and if given the opportunity I will continuously strive to lead our schools not only in the instructional decisions I make, but also by example with the honesty, integrity, and work ethic a true leader must have.
The ultimate goal of my career is to lead the Winston County School System to continuing excellence and provide every opportunity for students and personnel to grow in one of the state's best educational systems.
